There are all sorts of reasons why you might want a bit of extra help from Relate. Things might be worrying you at home or at school, or you might need help and advice with your own relationship.

Young People’s Counselling is for any young person who’s having problems with any area of their life. You might be experiencing problems at school, issues with your parents or generally not feeling like yourself.

Our counsellors get what’s going on in young people’s lives, they will listen and help you to understand your relationships better.

Counselling lets you talk about how you feel, separate from school and home life and can help you get back to enjoying life.

What is Young People’s Counselling?

Young People’s Counselling is for any young person who’s having problems. Whether it’s depression and mental health concerns or issues with parents or people at school. Talking to a Relate Counsellor can help.

What can I expect in counselling?

You can expect to be helped by a supportive and non-judgmental counsellor. What you say is confidential, unless the counsellor is worried for your safety.

How can counselling help me?

Many of our young clients tell us that they feel happier after they see a Relate counsellor and are better able to deal with their problems. In some cases, the Relate counsellor helped them to concentrate better in their school work, or get on better with their friends and family.

“Young people hate being talked down to. As a young person’s counsellor you have to be open and honest and give your clients time to open up. When my clients leave they thank me, but I tell them that they have done the hard-work as it isn’t easy talking about the big things that are worrying them” – Young People’s Counsellor
